OSA/Merzen at CUBE Manchester
As part of the ongoing Manchester Merzman festival, the Office for Subversive Architecture have begun an ambitious reinterpretation of the interior of the Manchester Centre for the Urban Built Environment.
A celebration of the German artist Kurt Schwitters and his influential ‘Merz’ form of collage art, the OSA’s construction makes use of found materials to subvert the dominant framework of the gallery and blur the line between installation and architecture.

Mezquita, Cordoba
This beautiful mosque was designed to give the illusion of spatial infinity. When it was functioning the interior was open to a courtyard full of trees, allowing light to spill through its 850 columns and make them appear like an extension of the trees themselves. Without any physical landmarks inside the visitor would be immersed inside what seemed a never-ending expanse of shadows and echoes.
